This is one of the centers of greater visitation by tourists who come to Costa Rica.
One
of the most visited resorts in Costa Rica; the Zoo-Ave becomes a center
of rescue for hundreds of wildlife species that can suffer from abuse
or neglect.
Rescue Animal Zoo Ave is the new name given to this zoo since the last day Wednesday, said the Organization in a statement.
Sergio
González, who is the Director of communication of the Zoo Ave, reported
that several changes were carried out to be able to transform its name
to rescue Animal Zoo Ave in animal care center.
"15
Years there was rescue Center, however, the old name was to see that we
were a zoo." It is important that people understand that if they see
animals in cages in the display area, it was because they had no
conditions to return to nature," said the communicator.
The
organization in this way wants to invite the population to get closer
to facilities with wild animals that are injured or who want to start a
process of liberation.
Last
year, Animal Rescue Zoo Ave managed to make around 500 releases, at
least 2000 animals returned to their natural environment.
Rescue
Animal Zoo Ave operates as a non-profit, which is directly financed by
donations that reach the conservation Park of life Wildlife Zoo Ave,
which are invested in the restoration of species and environmental
education.
Each year the Center enters around 2000 animals and of these 80% return to their natural environment after recovery.
This
Centre located in the province of Alajuela, 30 minutes from the Juan
Santa Maria International Airport is open to the public every day to the
public and has a cost of $20 for conventional tourists, $15 for
students and $12 for American tourists.
