Majority of Americans living in Costa Rica are young adults

About 16,000 Americans living in Costa Rica, contrary to what is intended, the majority are young adults.

For various reasons, thousands of Americans have chosen to make their lives in Costa Rica, its pleasant climate and its lower cost of living and natural beauty, these Americans move to the country each year to take advantage of its unmatched benefits.

According to statistics displayed by the newspaper La nation, about half of Americans living in the country have less than 29 years, 41% of them has a marriage and family in Costa Rica, and 20% of them are retirees or pensioners.

Americans, who choose Costa Rica as their retirement destination, prefer a quiet life, far from the chaos of city, in the sectors of beach or mountain, both on the Pacific coast and in other regions as Perez Zeledon in the South of the country.

The majority of Americans living in the country are engaged in work, especially English teaching in schools or language schools. However also carry out administrative and managerial tasks.

This group of U.S. immigrants occupies the third place in groups of migration of Costa Rica. The Director of the Central American Center of population of the University of Costa Rica, Robles Arodys commented on this group: "one characterized by people who come with their families to work. This form of migration is associated with a high frequency of younger people and people of working age, usually between 35 and 60 years".

But it is not only the youth group that as mentioned above, there is also a large group of Americans who choose to retire in Costa Rica, who make up an important sector.

"A second pattern can be pensioners and rentiers where elders aged 60, who can be married, but also with a high frequency of widowed and separated or divorced," added this specialist.

On the other hand, the Director of Costa Rica Relocation Zummac, Raymundo Macís, managing partner of Costa Rica Relocation said that United States, in this segment, come mainly two groups: one which are executives with their families and another for single and young.
