Costa Rican airline makes efforts to enter the market

Costa Rican Institute of tourism does efforts to create greater commitment in the airlines that operate in the country.

A new airline has begun the process to become certified with Civil Aviation and to try to replace flights that operated in partnership with the Colombian company Avianca TACA.

The General direction of Civil Aviation received the proposal on 17 May last the Ticos Airline representatives, confirmed the Assistant Director of Civil Aviation, Álvaro Vargas.

Vargas said that the new airline is in process of preparation for its financing and feasibility to operate three of five aircraft Airbus type.

TACA last month laid off 261 employees in Costa Rica and cancelled five flights to various destinations, as part of its integration with the Colombian airline Avianca.

Direct flights cancelled by TACA from Costa Rica had targeted Los Angeles, New York, Havana, Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador.

Passengers who had purchased tickets for such destinations with TACA will have to make stops in El Salvador or Bogota now.

Civil aviation authorities have not succeeded to be able to reset these flights in different meetings with Avianca, and are currently receiving advice so  that TACA gets sanctions for such cancellations.

Information about TICOS-Airlines is still few, however it is important not to confuse the company with the former airline of Costa Rica (LACSA), which was acquired by TACA.

Also the US airline Delta has taken this opportunity to offer flights between Costa Rica and some cities in the United States, such as Los Angeles.

Costa Rica also aims to create new destinations from the country towards major centers in Europe and South America, the old continent seeks some connection with Germany, France, England and Holland. While in South America it is possible that it is a city of the North of Brazil.
