Costa Rica most innovative Latin America becomes the country

The country climbed positions dramatically since the last ranking in 2012.
Costa Rica is placed 39th in the overall rate of innovation 2013 which is published by INSEAS, Cornell University in the United States in conjunction with the world Organization of intellectual property WIPO, which was presented earlier Monday in Geneva, Switzerland.
This time the country climbed 21 positions, since in the last year it was in place 60.
Index that innovation brings together 84 criteria to compare the performance of countries in their ability to make innovation, this aspects of infrastructure, human capital, business sophistication, production of knowledge and technology, as well as institutions are taken into account.
The Central American country was able to climb these jobs because that is perceived an improvement compared to the previous year in terms of a better capacity to assume the criteria mentioned above, within them as it shows better absorption and diffusion of knowledge in the country.
In accordance with the Minister of science, technology and telecommunications, Alejandro Cruz, "This shows a clear signal that Costa Rica is moving forward to become a fully integrated with international markets knowledge economy".
The report is delivered once a year since 2007, which has become an essential reference tool for information related to innovative capacity that countries globally.
The authors point out that Latin America is the region internationally that shows more progress, and made the ranking, Costa Rica is positioned above countries like Uruguay, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil. The reason for this is that the country has formed an appropriate combination of public policies in the understanding of institutions, integration with global markets and especially high levels of competition.
The Minister of economy, industry and trade, emphasized that the business climate indicator rose for the country in 10 positions from the previous year, reflecting the effort made by the Government in the field of regulation and simplification of procedures.
For his part, the President of the Republic, Laura Chinchilla, considered this award as a recognition for the efforts that the country has made to advance in the field of economic dynamism and business climate.
The global innovation index is led by Switzerland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Netherlands and United States.
