Isla of coconut will be patrimony of the State


Coco Island was declared World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997 and renovated in 2002.
ACMIC (Regional Direction of the Area of Coco Island marine conservation) prepares an administrative file that will be sent to the Executive Director of the national system of Conservation Areas (SINAC) and the Attorney General of the Republic to give continuity to the process that would culminate with the assignment of the Cocos Island as Natural Heritage of State.
cocos-island-costa-ricaThe Ministry of finance urged environmental authorities proceed to register these islands as property of the State in the system of registration and control of assets (SIBINET) as State assets.
Works include highly complicated topographical surveys, with the existence of 225 Islands and an extension of 616, 32 km2; which required an outlay of the extremely high status, with a specific game to do so, also requested the support of the registry program of regularization and cadastre for a topographic survey in the Mainland of the island as being part of the National Park and world heritage.
On 12 of September of the year 2012 through an Executive Decree was declared area registered District 10, Cocos Island 1 Puntarenas of 6 province of Puntarenas counties, and the registry issued a respective real estate certificate for Cocos Island with date of July 2012.
Isla del Coco is located 550 kilometers off the Costa Rican coast, is the only tropical region in the Eastern Pacific which has a tropical humid forest. It has also become an ideal laboratory for the study of biological processes and site for thousands of scientists worldwide.
The seabed of Cocos Island is famous, and many divers estimate is of best in the world for the observation of pelagic species of large dimensions, sharks, rays, dolphins and tuna.
