Waves up to 13 feet expected in the Caribbean this weekend

Strong winds also will generate choppy conditions in the North Pacific.
Reports from the National Meteorological Institute (IMN) state that waves ranging from 10-13 feet will hit Costa Rica’s Caribbean shores from Friday at noon, decreasing slightly on Sunday.

costadevelopers.comAccording to IMN data, high-pressure systems in the North Atlantic combined with the presence of low pressure in the northern region of South America will accelerate wind speed in the Caribbean, generating high waves and rough seas.

IMN experts say these conditions are dangerous for small boats and beachgoers.

Caribbean winds will even affect some areas in the northern Pacific, including rough seas specially in the mornings. Offshore wind also will generate choppy conditions.

IMN projections for the Caribbean on Monday indicate maximum wave heights of 6 feet.
