English company starts operations in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is known for attracting foreign investment in different industries
IMATS show is one of the latest companies to announce that it will begin operations in the Central American country. This company is dedicated to the plastics molding and injection processes.
The new plant of IMATS show opens in the province of Carthage and will be a modern establishment of 850 square meters.
Its homologous company in England, ClemCleat is originally from Herftforshire, England and has been on the market for 45 years. This signature will arrive in Costa Rica to attend companies engaged in manufacturing technology.
At the beginning this company will provide parts of plastics which will use engineering VITEC, which is a leader in advanced manufacturing, produces in Costa Rica elements in the film, aerospace, industry Government and photographic has been in the country since 1985.
The English company will also work directly with other suppliers of VITEC, which are related to production processes.

"The new plant in Costa Rica will allow us improve customer service, increase capacity, reduce delivery times and offer cost efficiency. We are proud to expand our operations in this country and thus better serve our customers," said Julian Emery, co-Chair of IMATS show to Revista Summa.
IMATS show currently has eight people in its initial phase and a projection of growth to 20 by the end of 2013.

The establishment of industrial parks grows in Costa Rica


Foreign investment has been one of the core points of the Government of the President Laura Chinchilla.
The city of Greece in Alajuela sector La Argentina will be the site where a new industrial plant of 230 hectares, will be located in seeking to attract all kinds of companies that offer different types of technology, including medical technology.
According to the Coordinator of the project, Francisco Bogantes, Green Valley technology centre will be built in 230 acres which is mostly land that is not being used for crop and that it will be delivered by the municipality.
Bogantes said that the municipality works closely with the Coalition's initiatives for development (CINDE) and the Association of export processing zones (AZOFRAS) to attract companies to this new business centre. The project will generate about 360 jobs per hectare.
The intention to build this Center was revealed in the framework of the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the canton of Greece.
In the country, there are several free zones, located in the province of Heredia and Alajuela. These sectors have been propitious for in conjunction with the benefits that the country offers are established service centers to the customer, production technology and others that provide a massive source of employment to the country.

Costa Rica, the best destination for investment in services in Latin America


Costa Rica is number one destination in Latin America for investment in services and also the thirteenth in the world, according to information from Costa Rican official sources, and global consultancy Tholons.
Costa EsterillosCINDE (Coalition for development initiatives), entity responsible for attracting investment to Costa Rica, said in a press release that this Central American country stood out as the best in the region in the list of the 100 best destinations for outsourced services of Tholons operations, in 2013.

The classification is carried out by specialists in business and reflects the dynamics and development of countries as venues for service companies.

The best destination for investment in services in the world is India, with cities such as Bangalore, Mumbai; followed by Philippines, Ireland, Poland and China.

In the Latin American region the destinations more attractive to this type of investment are Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Argentina.

In accordance with Tholons, Costa Rica showed an improvement of five positions in the index with respect to the 2012 and has established itself as a key player in the industry of corporate services and technologies of information in the Latin American region and in the world.

Consultant firm says good part of the Costa Rican success is due to the strong promotion of the sector of information technology and outsourced corporate services (outsourcing).

Anabel González, Minister of foreign trade, expressed her satisfaction at the "international recognition that this index gives the country in an industry that has become a key piece of the national economy".

For its part, the general director of CINDE, Gabriela Llobet, clarified that the listing of Tholons clearly reflects the great progress that has been Costa Rica as the venue for high value-added service operations.
"Today compete directly with locations very strong industry all over the world such as India, Malaysia, Poland and Ireland," said.

Foreign Trade Minister to meet with representatives, of high-tech and consulting companies in the Windy City.

Officials from the Foreign Trade Ministry (COMEX) and the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE) traveled to the U.S. city of Chicago for a series of meetings to promote the country as a competitive destination for foreign companies in high-tech sectors.
On Monday, Foreign Trade Minister Anabel Gonzalez will meet with four Illinois-based companies who already have operations in the country, and on Tuesday, CINDE officials will meet with 30 possible investors and consulting firms.
Gonzalez will give a keynote speech on the competitive advantages of Costa Rica and the ongoing development of high-tech sectors.
The minister will highlight Costa Rica’s top-five position among Latin American countries in this year’s World Competitiveness Ranking, published by the World Economic Forum.
According to CINDE, the country attracted 34 new investment projects in 2011, which, added to the companies that expanded their current operations, generated 7,700 new jobs.
